I’m trying out the Prisma app that’s gone viral the last few days. Although we have had Photoshop filters that turn photos into “paintings” for more than two decades now, the creators of the app seem to have done a good job with their algorithms. The outputs (which the developers claim that are coming from “a combination of neural networks and artificial intelligence”…) are quite interesting.
Most serious photographers will ignore the app as frivolous, but I’m just an amateur. Here’s (above) an end result with initial editing in VSCO and the using Prisma’s “Light summer reading” filter at 30% intensity. See more at The Next Web.
A limitation of the app is that as it is targeted to Instagram users, the output is only in square format at 1080×1080 pixels. Prisma is available (free) at prisma-ai.com
