Since the re-launch of the site I have been looking for a way to make the process of commenting easier. I ended up with a connection to Facebook, keeping the WordPress commenting system, but using Facebook for authentication.
While page views on the site have been slightly over zero, comments have been, well, basically zero :) So I’m trying out a third-part system, Livefyre, with the intention to provide an even easier interface for comments, authentication via other means beyond Facebook and other more advanced features like subscriptions, @ mentions and cross-posting comments to Facebook and Twitter.
So far it looks nice, I like the fact the not only is there an plugin for WordPress, but Livefyre actually integrates with WordPress: previous comments are imported and new comments are also added in the WordPress database. So give it a try and let me know in the comments how it looks :)
(2/9) Note #2: Obviously Livefyre broke the WP-FB Comments plugin and now comments are not shared with the Facebook page. Livefyre has the same functionality although at the moment I can’t put the URL of my page in the Livefyre control panel. The excellent support team of Livefyre have tracked me down though (see comments) so I’m hoping this will be solved soon.

@MarkosGiannopoulos You need to have the permanent url that is more like facebook.com/livefyre Once you get that URL it will work with your Facebook page.
@jennalanger I see so I need a username (and 25 fans :)). It's kind of a strange requirement though, I'm sure the connection would work either way (it did with the WP-FB Comments WordPress plugin)
@jennalanger In fact, WP-FB keeps importing posts into WordPress. For example the one I did on FB https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Markos-Giannop... for this article http://giannopoulos.net/2011/09/02/the-html-valid... I can see it in the Dashboard but Livefyre didnt import it (I guess the import is done once)
@MarkosGiannopoulos Ah, interesting. Currently we have to wait until you get the username, but we'll help you get to 25! :)
Livefyre does the import when you activate the plugin. To get those comments in Livefyre you can deactivate and reactivate, it will trigger the import again.

tried deactivating / activating the plugin and just got the "It looks like you're done...start using livefyre!" message on the Livefyre plugin page. Is it something else i need to do ?
@MarkosGiannopoulos Ah, sorry forgot the step of leaving a comment while Livefyre is off. That triggers Livefyre to realize that there are new comments and it restarts the import. I wouldn't recommend doing this on a regular basis as it can affect the consistency of the sync. We'll get you to 25 fans in no time!
